Windows app · v1.0.2 · free · now on Mac

Your phone is now a button deck and voice remote for your PC.

SofaDeck is a small Windows tray app. Scan one QR code and the phone in your hand becomes a Stream-Deck-style grid of big buttons — launch apps, control media, fire hotkeys and macros — plus a voice remote you just talk to. Nothing to install on the phone.

How it works

Three steps, about a minute. Your PC does the work; your phone is the screen and the microphone.

  1. Install SofaDeck on your Windows PC

A small tray app. It runs quietly next to the clock and serves a control page on your home network.

  2. Scan the QR code with your phone

Open your phone's camera, scan the code SofaDeck shows, and type the 6-digit PIN from the PC screen. No app store, no account.

  3. Tap buttons or just talk

Your phone becomes a grid of big buttons and a voice remote: launch apps, control media and volume, fire shortcuts and macros.

Everything a button deck should do — on the phone you already own

Hardware decks are lovely, but most people already carry a bright touchscreen everywhere. SofaDeck puts it to work as a control surface for your PC.

No phone app to install

Pairing is a QR scan. The deck is a web page served by your own PC, so it works on iPhone, Android and tablets alike.

Stream-Deck-style buttons

Big, labeled buttons you arrange yourself: launch programs, open sites and folders, send hotkeys, control media.

Voice remote

Tap the mic button and say what you want — "open Spotify", "volume 30", "pause", or the name of any button on your deck.

Macros

Chain several steps — keys, launches, waits — behind one button, for scene changes, game launches or work routines.

Stays on your network

Phone and PC talk directly over your Wi-Fi. No cloud relay, no account, nothing to sign up for.

Paired devices only

Pairing takes the QR code and a PIN shown on the PC, and each phone gets its own key. Remove any phone from SofaDeck's Devices page.

Made for the couch

Readable from arm's length, big touch targets, works in landscape — built for living-room and arcade-cabinet PCs.

Lightweight tray app

Starts with Windows if you want it to, sits in the tray, and stays out of the way until your phone calls.

Private by design

SofaDeck never leaves your house. The deck is served by your own PC, over your own network, to phones you paired with a QR code and PIN. There's no account to create, no cloud relay in the middle, and no usage tracking inside the app.

Pairing works like a Bluetooth handshake: the PC shows a QR code with a one-time pairing secret, you scan it, and you type the PIN shown next to it on the PC. Remove any phone from SofaDeck's Devices page at any time.

How SofaDeck keeps your PC safe →

The short version

  • Works only on your local network
  • Only paired devices (QR code + PIN) can press buttons
  • No account, no telemetry, no ads
  • Internet is used only for the update check and a Pro license check

Questions

Do I need to install an app on my phone?

No. SofaDeck runs on your Windows PC and serves the deck as a web page on your home network. You scan a QR code with your phone's camera, type the 6-digit PIN shown on the PC, and the deck opens in your phone's browser. You can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app.

Does it work with iPhone and Android?

Yes. Because the deck is a web page, any reasonably modern phone or tablet browser works — Safari on iPhone and iPad, Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android. The phone and the PC need to be on the same network.

Is SofaDeck a Stream Deck?

No. Stream Deck is Elgato's hardware and software. SofaDeck is an independent Windows app that gives you a similar grid of programmable buttons on the phone you already own, plus voice commands. It is not affiliated with Elgato or Corsair.

What does SofaDeck cost?

The core app is free: one deck page of 12 buttons, app and website launchers, media and volume controls, single keys and typing, and the voice remote. SofaDeck Pro is a one-time $9.99 license key that unlocks unlimited pages and profiles, macros, hotkey combos, custom voice phrases, Steam / Epic / LaunchBox game import and themes. No subscription.

Does it send my data to the cloud?

No. Your phone talks directly to your PC over your local network. There is no SofaDeck account, no cloud relay and no telemetry. The app only goes online to check sofadeck.com for updates once a day (you can turn that off) and, if you buy Pro, to verify your license key with Gumroad.

Can I control my PC from outside my house?

Not by design. SofaDeck is LAN-only: the phone has to be on the same network as the PC. That keeps the attack surface small. If you need remote access from anywhere, a remote desktop tool is the right choice — our guide on controlling a PC from a phone compares the options.

Which computers are supported?

Windows: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit). Mac: macOS 11 Big Sur or later, on Apple silicon or Intel — a separate, notarized download. There is no Linux version.

Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning when I install it?

SmartScreen warns about new downloads that haven't built up a reputation with Microsoft yet. It is common for new independent software. The download page explains the warning, how to check the file's SHA-256 checksum, and how to continue with 'More info' → 'Run anyway' once you've verified it.
