You bought the postage on your phone, the label PDF is sitting in your downloads, and the label printer is plugged into a PC in the other room. Printing it should be one tap, not emailing the file to yourself, opening it on the computer and fighting the print dialog. This guide covers the ways to print shipping labels from a phone, why 4x6 labels so often come out the wrong size, and how to send them to a Rollo or other thermal printer on a Windows PC.
Three ways to print a label from your phone
- A wireless label printer with its own app. Some thermal printers join your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and print from a phone app. Good if you're buying a printer anyway; not much help if you already own a USB one.
- Send the file to the computer and print it there. Email, cloud drive or a messaging app gets the PDF to the PC, where you open it and print. It works with any printer, but it's several steps per label, and the print dialog is where labels get shrunk.
- Print on the PC's printer straight from the phone. A helper on the PC receives the file over your home Wi-Fi and prints it on the printer you picked. That's what SofaDeck's Print Station does (Pro, Windows): the USB printer stays where it is, and the phone becomes the print button.
Print labels from your phone with SofaDeck Print Station
Print Station turns the Windows PC into a print server for your phone. There's no phone app: the deck opens in the phone's browser after you pair it with a QR code. Set it up once:
- Install SofaDeck 1.0.5 or later on the Windows PC the label printer is plugged into, and unlock SofaDeck Pro.
- Install the printer's Windows driver and check that its paper size is 4 x 6 in in the printer's preferences.
- In SofaDeck on the PC, open Print Station, choose the printer (a Rollo is picked automatically), switch Print Station on, keep "Allow phones to print" on and click Save.
- Click Test print and measure the box on the test page: it should be exactly 1 inch.
- On your paired phone, tap the printer button (🖨) → Print a file, and pick the label PDF or photo. It prints on the PC straight away, with no print dialog.
What happens when you print:
- PDFs print at actual size. A 4x6 label comes out 4x6 inches, never "fit to page". Landscape pages are turned to match the roll, and a page bigger than the paper is shrunk to fit and noted in the print log.
- Photos (JPEG or PNG) are turned the right way up and fitted to the page.
- No print dialog. The job goes straight to the printer you chose, so nobody has to be at the PC.
- Files up to 25 MB; the PC keeps a log of what was printed.

Printing to a Rollo printer from your phone
The USB Rollo is one of the most popular 4x6 thermal printers for home sellers, and it's a computer printer: it plugs into a PC and prints what the PC sends it. To print to it from your phone, install the Rollo driver on the Windows PC (rollo.com has it), set the label size to 4 x 6 in its printing preferences, then point SofaDeck's Print Station at it. Print Station picks a Rollo automatically when it finds one. Other USB thermal printers work the same way once their Windows driver is installed, and so do ordinary office printers for full-page PDFs.
Need labels or a printer? Thermal printers use direct-thermal labels, so there's no ink: 4x6 thermal labels on Amazon and Rollo and other 4x6 label printers.

Why labels print the wrong size
- "Fit to page" scaling. Print dialogs often shrink a 4x6 page to fit the printable area, so barcodes come out smaller and some carriers reject them. Choose actual size (100%). Print Station never scales a label down unless it's bigger than the paper.
- Wrong paper size in the driver. If the printer thinks it has letter paper, a 4x6 label lands in a corner or over two labels. Set 4 x 6 in in the printer's preferences.
- A letter-size PDF. Some shipping sites make a full-page PDF with the label in one half. Look for a 4x6 or "thermal printer" option when you create the label.
- Alignment drift. Thermal printers measure the gap between labels; if labels start creeping, run the printer's own calibration (often holding the feed button) after loading a new stack.
If nothing prints
- Phone and PC must be on the same Wi-Fi network (not a guest network that isolates devices).
- Print a test page from Windows' own printer settings first: if that fails, the driver or cable is the problem, not the phone.
- In SofaDeck, check Print Station is on, the right printer is selected and "Allow phones to print" is on.
- Use SofaDeck's Test print and measure the 1-inch box to confirm the scale.

Frequently asked questions
Can I print shipping labels from my phone?
Yes. Download the label as a PDF on your phone, then send it to a printer that can take it. A wireless label printer with its own phone app can print directly; a USB label printer needs a computer, and SofaDeck's Print Station (Pro, Windows) lets your phone print on that computer's printer at actual size.
How do I print to a Rollo printer from my phone?
If the Rollo is a USB model plugged into a Windows PC, install SofaDeck on the PC, unlock Pro, open Print Station and pick the Rollo, then tap the printer button on your phone and choose the label PDF. Rollo's wireless model can also print from a phone with Rollo's own app.
Why does my 4x6 label print too small or cut off?
Usually because the print dialog scaled it with "Fit to page" or the printer's paper size isn't 4 x 6. Print at actual size (100%) and set the label size in the printer's preferences. SofaDeck's Print Station always prints PDFs at actual size and turns landscape labels to match the roll.
Do I need a wireless label printer?
No. With Print Station, the printer stays plugged into the PC by USB; your phone sends the file to the PC over your home Wi-Fi.
Does Print Station work on a Mac?
Not yet. Print Station is Windows-only for now; SofaDeck's buttons and voice remote work on Mac.
How much does it cost?
Print Station is part of SofaDeck Pro, $9.99 once with no subscription. The free version of SofaDeck covers the button deck, trackpad and voice remote.
